Lake Kaindy, Kazakhstan

Lake Kaindy was formed after a landslide created a natural dam. The trunks of dead spruce trees reach out of the cold mountain water that preserves and reflects them.

In Almaty, a city with a very western atmosphere, we rented a car to explore the surrounding areas for a few days. With the guitar and our tents in the trunk, we stopped at canyons and different mountain lakes, enjoying our flexibilty and the chance to take hitchhikers – both other travellers and locals – with us in the car.
