Ushguli, Georgia

A 22h Bus ride from Istanbul took me to Batumi in Georgia, where I spent two days, picknicking with locals in the botanic garden, strolling through the city and swimming in the black sea.

From there I headed north to the caucasus mountains.

After three days trekking through quite dramatic landscapes, crossing blooming meadows and roaring streams with glaciers as backdrop I arrived in Ushguli, a Svaneti villagee which, at 2100 masl., is considered one of the highest permanent settlements in europe, still mostly relying on traditional forms of agriculture.
